This commemorative coin with a face value of 2 euros commemorates the 1275th anniversary of the birth of Charlemagne - the King of the Franks, the King of the Lombards, and the Emperor of the Romans.
The design combines two elements: the personal monogram of Charlemagne and the octagon of the Aachen Cathedral. Both motifs have been skillfully merged into a distinctive work of art.
