The coin commemorates the 225th anniversary of the arrival of the French in Malta. In the center of the coin is portrayed an allegory of France seated on a throne. Above the motif, in an curve along the edge, is the inscription "225th ANNIVERSARY ARRIVAL OF THE FRENCH IN MALTA." The coin also shows the dates "1798 - 2023", the mottoes of the French Revolution "Liberté" and "Egalité" and the year of issue "2023".
