The continuation of the 'City Views' series presents cityscapes on coins. The reverse shows the historic centre of Rome, dominated by the central dome of St Peter's Basilica. Built in a Renaissance style, it is one of the most magnificent buildings in the world. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II along with the denomination and date of issue.
The coin is based on a historically important design by the artist Jacques Alphonse Testard.
